BUNDLEDOCS

Our Top 3 Key Takeaways from the Dublin Tech Summit 2024

At Bundledocs, innovation is part of our daily lives and is what allows us make a real difference for legal professionals daily. Our team is passionate about continued learning and the innovation taking place in our industry, and so were delighted to recently attend the 2024 Dublin Tech Summit. The legal industry has changed dramatically over the past number of years, so our aim is always to develop the most up-to-date solutions and expertise to allow us stay ahead of the curve.

Each year, the Summit brings global leaders in innovation, technology and business together to share and shape global trends. This year, our Software Engineer, Rohan Bhutani attended and details his main takeaways from the event.

1. Digital Inclusivity & Focus on User Experience

The theme of helping people through innovative technology was central to every discussion – something we are also very passionate about here at Bundledocs. One example of this in action came from UNICEF, who provides the resources for young children to learn digital skills. This is particularly useful for those with dyslexia, who can utilise speech-to-text AI tools, ensuring disabilities don’t impede their education. Soti Snap are facilitating rapid web and mobile application development with a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface. They also offer a cross-platform app for device management, aiding IT support teams, something that is important to us.

2. Versatile AI Solutions

AI technology was a main point of discussion at this year’s event with many companies highlighting the broad applicability and innovation in AI-driven solutions. One example of this is a subsidiary of the American cellular company Verizon, where AI-enabled cameras have been designed and developed to enhance driver safety, particularly for truckers. In a legal technology context, Generative AI can be integrated with daily workflows to improve efficiencies in many areas. Bundledocs users benefit from secure AI-powered text search, and Generative-AI can also be utilised for document summarisation and text translation

3. Ethical and Regulatory Technology Considerations

With AI becoming part of daily working life, the security of data and how it is being used is also an important discussion. Over 50 laws overlap with the new EU AI Act, effective May 21st. The act complements GDPR, promoting privacy by design, and advocating for responsible AI design, diverse team skills, and developer education on ethical system building. This was a topic that our Chief Technological Officer, James Hogan spoke about last year with Silicon Republic. In his interview, James shared his hope that future AI Acts would “improve our understanding of the risks of working with these modern AI models and in turn give the public greater protection from poorly or nefariously implemented applications.”

Generative AI could increase Ireland’s GDP by 8%, though global adoption lags. It’s crucial that digital transformation aligns with business goals. One such example used NASA’s framework as a guide where ethical data usage, especially in autonomous vehicles, is critical. AI’s role in space exploration is diverse, from climate change to extraterrestrial life, and it may even boost space tourism. Amazon SageMaker was also recognised for combating misinformation, with a panel preference for AI in prenatal, neonatal, and elderly care.

Looking Towards the Future

From showcasing the potential of AI across various sectors, to new technological developments and advancements, the Dublin Tech Summit was a great opportunity to learn more about what’s happening around us, and how we can use technological advancements to enhance our customers’ experiences as part of the Bundledocs solution, where we are always looking towards the future. Technology may be pushing boundaries, but this doesn’t mean it can’t be used to answer the needs of society.

At Bundledocs, our team is focused on technical excellence, customer care and dedicated to helping our clients gain the most benefit from our software. To learn more about Bundledocs and our solution, visit www.bundledocs.com

How to Easily Create an Electronic Casebook with Bundledocs

In today's landscape of legal digitisation, electronic casebooks offer improved efficiency and organisation for legal professionals. Centralised cloud solutions provide a streamlined approach for firms working across multiple jurisdictions. The legal industry is becoming increasingly dynamic and requires agile responses to evolving requirements.

Electronic casebooks offer rapid updates and enhancements, ensuring that legal teams are always equipped with the latest features and compliance measures. If you are not familiar with what electronic casebooks are or how you can use them, we have you covered.

Electronic Casebooks – What Are They and Where Are They Used?

Casebooks generally contain most of the evidence used in cases and therefore are a vital part of the court process. Complex cases will require a larger number of documents in addition to precise organisation and detail – often taking up valuable time. Digital solutions can reduce this workload for legal professionals and streamline business processes across the board. Electronic casebooks are widely used in New Zealand and Scottish courts where specific and unique requirements regarding creation and editing are in place. Bundledocs has a range of great features and enhanced functionality that helps to automate this process for our users.

For users based in New Zealand, our solution is fully compliant with the Superior Courts lodgement rules, allowing firms to automatically create court-structured electronic casebooks. Bundledocs automates the process of converting List Numbered documents and hyperlinked references to their Common Bates Numbers, meaning users save time and can use their resources more efficiently.

Importance of Having the Right Tools at Your Disposal

Whether it’s case management or legal research, electronic casebooks can efficiently organise and edit your documents. Document production and the final output can vary widely depending on the court, so it is important that you are aware of local court requirements. The Bundledocs solution is agile and easy-to-use, meaning you can rest assured that your firm will easily adapt and your team can start creating high-quality casebooks in no time!

Make an Impact in the Legal Sector by Reducing Your Firms’ Paper Usage

Sustainability is a critical consideration for companies and is important for achieving longevity and staying ahead of competition. Paper usage is one of the most significant sustainability issues for the legal industry, the creation of which contributes to waste levels and has a significant impact on the world’s natural resources. If you are looking to make a change and embrace sustainability, Bundledocs can be your first step on this journey.

Operational and Cost Efficiency

Bundledocs allows users to instantly send and receive electronic documents, meaning you are saving time, money and are working more efficiently and with less paper. As physical bundles require printing, e-bundles will also help to reduce total costs for businesses. With Bundledocs, your documents are readily accessible online, meaning that the number of physical copies will be reduced and allowing your firm to become more paper-light. Bundles are often created over time, and with many collaborators being involved, this can lead to multiple versions being created. Collaborating on one digital document will reduce these variables and make a noticeable difference on operations and cost.

Through the automation of time-intensive tasks, our solution will help streamline your business operations by boosting productivity levels among employees who will spend less time manually editing bundles. As paper documents must be transported to their destination, cloud storage solutions like Bundledocs can also help in reducing carbon emissions and cost of postage.

Improved Client Perception and Retaining Reputation

According to Deloitte, consumers want businesses to take the lead and support them in developing more environmentally sustainable habits. 34% of consumers would trust brands more if they were recognised as an “ethical/sustainable provider by an independent third-party.” If businesses are not actively engaging in sustainable efforts, clients may begin to look for services elsewhere. Across the globe, people are looking to engage in more green practices and for companies to become more environmentally conscious.

In recent years, ‘greenwashing’ has become a serious issue for businesses who convey misleading or false information on their sustainability efforts. Companies who are greenwashing their operations are now facing a growing threat of litigation, and will have to report annually on their social, economic and environmental impacts. Accusations of greenwashing can cause significant reputational damage, leading to a loss of client confidence, a poor public image which will impact business development, ultimately benefitting your competitors.

Staying Ahead of Regulatory and Legislative Measures

As new sustainability reporting regulations are introduced, one way for firms to understand and prioritise their sustainability issues is to undertake materiality assessments. The main objective of materiality assessments is to identify the most significant social and environmental impacts for companies, their investors and stakeholders. Through this assessment, companies can identify environmental changes that are critical for business growth and longevity. For many firms, the move to paperless operations will be a vital step in improving their operations ahead of CSRD reporting

Bundledocs ensures that your documents are court-compliant as our solution is continually updated with the latest court regulations and requirements. Our solution allows users to automatically generate customised indexes and bookmarks, which can reduce physical bundle duplication and possible errors. During the bundle creation phase, legal firms can reduce paper usage when physical bundles are not needed. While many bundles may be too large to be sent via email, Bundledocs allows users to share password protected documents online with no file-size limit.

Begin Your Sustainability Journey with Bundledocs

By embracing sustainability efforts and reducing paper usage, legal firms will benefit the environment and their own business by streamlining operations - and will improve their reputation. When you choose Bundledocs as your trusted partner, your business is choosing a cost-effective and secure solution that will aid your progress in making a sustainable change.

Benefits of Breaking the Habit of Creating Hard-Copy Bundles in 2024

If you want to make a change for you or your company, it’s not too late to make a New Year’s Resolution. As digital has become our new day-to-day, electronic bundles (e-bundles) are one of the online elements that have popularised over the past few years, particularly in the legal sector.

The use of e-bundles has significantly changed the way legal professionals and law firms prepare and deliver electronic bundles of their files. Although printing hard copy bundles may not be eliminated entirely from the process, why not start 2024 off right by breaking the habit of creating hard-copy bundles when they are not needed?

Streamline Business Processes

Whether it’s a bundle or court file, the production and approval of files can be one of the most time-consuming aspects of the process. Sharing digitally for approval will allow each party to view easily without needing to review physical copies at different times, which can increase efficiency.

Through the automation of time-intensive tasks, Bundledocs can reduce the stages in document preparation such as photocopying and delivery. Streamlining your operations and giving your team the time to focus on what really matters can also aid with employee retention. Streamlining business processes can also lead to improved productivity as employees will spend less time creating and editing manual bundles.

Increased Collaboration

Getting started with Bundledocs is extremely easy - all you need is a device and an email address (single sign on is available also). This makes it simple for teams to get set-up and start producing and collaborating on documents. Bundledocs can be used by anyone in any location, which facilitates the hybrid and fully remote working options that have become part of many standard working arrangements.

Users can also make bundles fully searchable, making reviewing easy for colleagues, third-party editors, or clients. Research shows that organisations that embrace flexibility and the use of technology that supports remote collaboration are more likely to attract and retain employees.

Sustainability

Although paper bundles may still be required if a case goes to court, e-bundles can improve the preparation process by eliminating paper when sharing documents internally and externally. The amount of energy and water used in paper production has a significant and damaging impact on the environment, leading to deforestation and air pollution. Paper accounts for approximately 26% of total waste at landfill sites.

As paper documents must be transported to their destination, digital bundles that utilise cloud storage can also help in reducing carbon emissions. This can also help you to reduce overheads like postage, couriers and DX.

Heightened Security

As the number and frequency of global cyber-attacks continues to rise, organisations may feel cautious about sharing files both internally and externally. Our solution is ISO 27001 certified, which is the international standard for information security management systems. This ensures that your documents are always safe and secure.

Our customers’ information is stored securely using Microsoft SSL encryption, ensuring a secure communication channel exists which prevents any interception of data from third parties across our network and other internet communications. Users generating bundles can simply invite third parties to view bundles that they have created and all exchanges are security restricted.

Start Using Bundledocs

Now that you know the benefits, there’s nothing stopping you or your team from getting started with Bundledocs. Our solution is easy to use and setup is simple. If you are still uncertain about making the switch to digital files, get booked in for a free online demo today!
